The medieval garden becomes the perfect place to discover new and unusual botanical varieties, to appreciate the simplicity of the plants cultivated in antiquity and be surprised by the life cycle of nature as it is transformed each season. The collection of the Museum of Dolls and Toys – the largest of Europe – will amaze you with its automatons coming from all over the world, telling of the world of play in past centuries.
The proposals of the Rocca di Angera are varied and suited to all types of requirements.
Educational laboratories to discover the secrets of the castle and its history through questions and riddles, play visits and animated itineraries, adventures in costume to experience personally the exploits of fearless heroes and legendary characters only known in books.
Parco Pallavicino
Through a multidisciplinary approach, children and young people can experiment directly in the field and learn the secrets and dynamics of the natural world with various levels of difficulty. The notions provided will have the aim of improving their knowledge of animals and plants, suggesting some solutions for approaching the wild fauna with respect and trust, or creating “a woodland classroom”.
The botany and fauna workshops run by experts in biology and the natural sciences from the Parco Pallavicino enable children and young people to approach the botanical world and that of animals, to learn how to get to know them. The activities are designed for infant, primary and lower-level secondary schools.
Together with the biologists and park employees, it will be possible to feed the deer, llamas and Tibetan goats that live on the Farm. In the Pulcineria, newborn chicks can be admired as they take their first steps in the world.
The aim is that to establish a relationship between young visitors and the inhabitants of the park.
The workshops
The activities proposed in the classroom have the aim of delivering the values of biodiversity of flora and fauna through play, observation and discovery.
Isola Bella
Isola Bella is the ideal destination to immerse yourself in the Baroque age.
A guide will accompany the youngsters around the 17th-century princely dwelling, telling of the rich treasures safeguarded in the twenty rooms of Palazzo Borromeo: paintings, tapestries, carved wood, statues, sumptuous furnishings and the important Painting Gallery or the General Berthier Gallery, the only art gallery that remains from among the many that existed in Northern Italy and that have been lost over the years.
It has more than one hundred and thirty works on display, from the followers of Leonardo to the masters of 17th-century Lombardy.
The adventure continues in the mosaic grottoes, a cool, delightful place at water level, and with walks in the splendid Italian-style garden with its terraces in bloom, fountains and statues representing rivers, winds and seasons.
If you climb the steps of the Teatro Massimo, it will be possible to admire the panorama of Lago Maggiore as though you were on the deck of a sailing ship.
